German short rows
German Short Rows is a perfect method for short rows, it is easy and almost invisible on your knitting. I use this technique for most of my patterns, so I strongly recommend it.
On a knit row:
![]() 1. Work to the indicated stitch of the pattern. |
![]() 2. Turn your work and slip the next stitch purlwise. |
![]() 3. Pull the yarn to the back, this gives a double stitch. |
![]() 4. Bring the yarn to front between the needles. |
![]() 5. Purl the next stitch and tighten the yarn, then continue to work normally. |
![]() 6. Next RS row, knit to the double stitch. |
![]() 7. Insert the right needle knitwise under both of its front legs and knit both legs together. |
On a WS row:
![]() 1. Work to the indicated stitch of the pattern. |
![]() 2. Turn your work and slip the next stitch purlwise with the yarn in front. |
![]() 3. Pull the yarn to the back, this gives a double stitch. |
![]() 4. Purl the next stitch and tighten the yarn, then continue to work normally. |
![]() 5. Next WS row, purl to the double stitch. |
![]() 6. Insert the right needle purlwise under both of its front legs and purl both legs together. |
Voila, you know everything now!
