Moonlight is a shawl made with knitting and crochet. I wanted to make a shawl with these two different techniques. The result is rather nice.

Materials :
Yarn : fingering, mohair 200g
Needles : circular needles 5mm and circular needles 4 mm
Hook : 3mm
Gauge :  17 x 32 st = 10 cm / 4’’ in stockinette stitch
Final size of this shawl : 172 cm x 27 cm
Abbreviation :
For knit : st=stitch(s), k=knit, p=purl, sl=slip, k2tog=knit 2 together, p2tog=purl 2 together
For crochet : st=stitch(s), ch=chain(s), sc=single crochet, sk=skip
Notes : this shawl begins with the knitting part then the other part in crochet.

The knitting part :

CO 403 st with needles 5mm.
Row 1 : change needles for 4mm. P all st.
Row 2 : k205 and turn
Row 3 : sl1, p6 and turn
Row 4 : Sl1, k5, k2tog, k3 and turn
Row 5 : sl1, p8, p2tog, p3 and turn
Row 6 : sl1, k11, k5tog, k3 and turn
Row 7 : sl1, p14, p2tog, p3 and turn

For every following row, you need 3 more st (short rows). See the Grille 1. By this way, until you have all st on both sides.

Change needles for 5mm for bind off loosely until the last st. Let the loop and do not cut the yarn.

The corchet part :

Take your crochet hook and through the loop. You go at first to crochet 1 tour around the edge of your work which has to be on the right side. See the Schéma 2.

ch4, sk 2st, sc1, *ch6, sk 5st, sc1*, repeat ** until there are 3st, ch4, sk 2st, sc1 in the last st to finish the side of knitted casting on .

Then, continue for the side that you binded off previously, crochet an edging with picot st. ch3, sc1 in the same st, sc3, *sc1, ch3, sc1 in the same st, sc3*, repeat ** until there are the last st, sc1, ch3, sc1 in the same st. See the Grille 3.

Once you finished your shawl, wash and block.
